Karen Cookingham of Villa Park recently hired Polays' to custom design her kitchen, living and dining room windows treatments and matching pillows. She said, “I thought they turned out beautiful.” Karen added she was pleased that Michelle Polay came prepared with ideas when Karen wasn’t sure what she wanted. She noted that Michelle helped her “walk through the process from beginning to end.”
Park Ridge resident Joan McGeean has worked with decorator Michelle Polay for the past five years hiring her to decorate the McGeeans living and dining rooms coordinating window treatments and home accessories. In the three bathrooms Michelle picked out wall and floor tile and coordinated paint colors to match. Joan is not finished using Michelle’s creativity and tells her friends about her. About working with Michelle again, Joan said, "Oh! For sure! I recommend her all the time. Michelle has a great eye for color and can coordinate anything. I love that she is practical and what she designs is very livable."
Patti Kowalski of Elmhurst worked with Michelle to finish many rooms in her house. Together they picked out fabric and chose a design Michelle hand-sketched to make drapes in the living room and dining room. Patti said by coming into their home, Michelle was able to get a sense of how they live and what they like. For practicality in the family room an ottoman and pillows were designed for wearable to accommodate the active Kowalskis children, Patti said. In the master bedroom they choose artwork for the walls and accessories to finish a shelving unit. “We love it,” she added. “She knew exactly what we wanted. She did a wonderful job and she’s easy to work with.”
“Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!” said another Elmhurst resident Marilyn Hobbs after working with Michelle. “I will use her forever and forever,” she added. A friend of Marilyn’s told her whoever you are using to decorate, “Keep her!” And that means a lot, Marilyn said. “I recommend your shop, your store, Michelle, everything all the time. Michelle is so easy to work with,” Marilyn added. During the process of designing window treatments and decorating with accessories, Michelle suggested that Marilyn change the function of some rooms to better accommodate the family’s needs. So the Hobbs’ changed the living room into the dining room and the dining room into her office. “It’s perfect,” Marilyn commented. To celebrate Marilyn’s birthday they were able to fit comfortably 23 people in the new dining room by putting two tables together to accommodate the large family. Michelle has also helped decorate the homes of Marilyn’s two daughters Kristin Jacobs of Chicago and Lesley Arnett of Elmhurst as well as her new daughter-in-law of Elmhurst. |
